NEWS ABOUT CATS
March 2007 A very busy time, both with cats and dogs through February into March, with spaces at a premium, with seven new cats being taken in to add to the four already in residence, which are harder to home. DIXIE - A five month old black and white long hair came to us as her owner had not checked with the landlord as to whether pets were allowed in the accommodation. DIXIE a little live-wire, once neutered, vaccinated and chipped, has a home waiting. A pretty tortoishell and white female was taken in with her three equally preety, 5 month old kittens, “NEVIS” a tortoishell and white female, like her mum and twins “SOPHIE” and “STAR”, once neutered will be looking for a home, preferably together as they make such a striking pair. MITTENS - A tabby and white s.h. female had been a stray since November, being cared for by her finders in Butt Lane, sadly having to wait as no spaces were available. She too has a home waiting for her, once she is neutered and vaccinated. Following a late night call out to a stray cat which was having fits, in Wood Lane, Audley, meant a journey up to the P.D.S.A. Stoke, where vets now do an out of hours service. Sadly MISTY, an older mingled tabby/tortie had been accidently locked in a garage for a week and following several good feeds by her finders had started to fit. She survived the night and was transferred to our vets, County, where her treatment continued. Sadly, MISTY died in her sleep 24 hours later, despite every effort being made to help her. As I have said many times before, we cannot save them all, but we still feel the loss once the initial contact is made, you are involved. Still with us SYDNEY, JEMIMA and BLACKIE and DARKIE are all looking for a home. SYDNEY - A tabby and white male has been with us now for 17 months. Originally brought in with Feline Infectious Anaemia and benign cancer on his front paws, he is now 100% better, but does need a home where care will be taken to monitor his feet and give him medication once a week. Could you foster Syd? We will pick up the vet’s bills, you provide the T.L.C. Sydney would best suit a home where he will receive 1:1 attention. JEMIMA - Has been with us for 5 months, after receiving a pelvic injury following a R.T.A. Now completely recovered this 6 year old dark tortie short hair is looking for a quiet and understanding home. BLACKIE and DARKIE need a home together, coming to us when their elderly owner was hospitalized. BLACKIE is, as his name implies, a lovely black s.h. aged 3 4 and his friend DARKIE, a dark tortie s.h., also aged 3 4. Both cats are extremely affectionate and would make wonderful companions for an older person. This months “WHERE ARE THEY NOW?” features MATHILDA who was a very difficult cat to re-home (not her fault). We hope you will enjoy reading how love and patience and the commitment to give a more difficult cat or dog a try, can reap it’s rewards.
