NEWS OF DOGS
MARCH 2007 Readers are reminded that EARDLEY HALL KENNELS are open again for business, please remember to book now in order to avoid disappointment. REMINDER:- Is your dog vaccinated to date, also Kennel Cough remembered? Kennels are full with the Rescue as I write, in fact overflowing, 3 dogs waiting to come in as soon as we have a space. Out of the 4 stray dogs brought in, 2 were claimed, one, a border collie x remaining unclaimed, a line of enquiry following another, a cairn terrier. PADDY - A seven month old King Charles Spaniel was found in Whitehill, he had escaped from the garden when someone left the gate open. As he wasn’t micro-chipped, the owners were indeed lucky to have him handed into us, he was claimed the following day. TILLY - A white with black spots Staffy bitch was found in Kidsgrove, again a gate being left open it might be a good idea to put a spring on these left open gates! TILLY was claimed 2 days later. WOODY - The black and white border collie x was found at Bignall End, where he had been a stray for quite a few days, despite the dog warden’s attempts to catch him. WOODY is 3 4 years old, neutered, an affectionate dog but strong. He is looking for a home. Following a catastrophic sequence of events, GIZMO a young Shih-Tzu dog came into care, unwanted, a very insecure little white and tan dog. Fortunately he was homed quite quickly and we are looking forward to seeing a more confident little dog in the future, now that he is in understanding hands. SAM & PEPPER - Have come to us through no fault of their own, as their owner was evicted. Two lovely affectionate dogs SAM is a tan x breed, aged 13 and PEPPER his companion is a 4 year old black x breed bitch. We are hoping that they will be homed together. Also waiting to come in is BENJI, an 11 year old Shih-Tzu, MICK a rough coated terrier x aged 1 1⁄2 and JAKE a 4 year old black and white x breed dog. Still needing homes are BOBBY, a 10 year old yorkie dog, ELSA a 4 year old Rotty x bitch and LADY an 11 months old tan G.S. x Lab bitch. BENJI - is used to living with an older person, so would suit a similar home. MICK - is very lively, needs a firm hand, not suitable for younger children. JAKE - again lively, needs lots of walks, again suitable for an older family situation. BOBBY - needs an experienced home, when he’s good he’s adorable! ELSA - a lovely dog, nice tempered, has lived with children. LADY - a lovely, straight forward softie, has made a wonderful recovery from having 2 broken legs. She will make a good family dog in the right hands. If you can offer a home to one of our dogs or cats, or need an update on what is available, please contact 01270 875260. With the beautiful weather continuing, may I remind dog owners tempted into the countryside to walk their dogs, please be mindful of sheep and lambs in the fields at the moment. Better to be safe than sorry, if your dog does not return when called, keep him or her on the lead.
