Alsager Animals In Need is a small caring rescue service covering Alsager (Stoke-on-Trent) and the immediate surrounding district.
The rescue was founded in 1987 and is registered with the United Kingdom Charity Commission Number 519969. Since 1987, more than 1,816 cats and 1,443 dogs have been rescued/homed.
The rescue is run entirely by retired voluntary workers, working from their own homes and is entirely self-funded. Funds are raised through monthly and annual events as displayed on our 'Events' page, together with donations made by the supporters of the rescue.
Alsager Animals In Need offer shelter and veterinary care for sick, injured, stray and abandoned cats and dogs.
Every effort is made to trace the owners of animals coming into our care, but failing this, once the animal is confirmed as healthy by the Veterinary Surgeon, the animal is vaccinated, micro-chipped and if necessary neutered. We endeavor to find a loving responsible home for the animal and all potential homes and owners are thoroughly vetted prior to re-homing taking place.
An 'After-care' service is offered giving advice and support, with a follow-up visit being made after four weeks to ensure that both pets and owners are happy.
Should an animal coming into the care of the rescue be sick or very old, then a long term foster home is sought, also, short term foster care may be available if people have to go into hospital.
Alsager Animals In Need only re-home within the local area except in exceptional circumstances, to enable the correct checks to be made and the 'After-care' service to be efficient.
Dogs that come into the care of the rescue are accommodated at a local boarding kennel, which is able to provide shelter and an exercise area for 5 dogs. The rescue is able to provide accommodation for 13 cats within 4 shelters, all of which have roomy pens and exercise areas.
The main costs incurred are for kenneling at the boarding kennels, veterinary bills (always very high due to the poor state of health of some of the animals that come to the rescue), erecting and maintaining the cat shelters and pens at the foster homes, food, litter, advertising, hire of premises for events, running costs of the rescue vehicle etc.
If you are able to help in any way, either by re-homing one of the current cats and dogs in the care of the rescue, becoming a foster carer, or by making a donation or pledge, or giving your time to assist at one of the fund raising events, please contact one of the telephone numbers below.
However little your help, it will assist in the caring for these animals so much easier.
